The Pro-Ject Xtension 10 is one of the most advanced models in the Pro-Ject catalog, and embodies the company's more than 20 years of experience in creating high-quality turntables.
The chassis of the player is made of fiberboard and is filled with metal chips to suppress any resonances. In addition, the Xtension 10 has magnetic supports, completely mechanically decoupling the player from the surface on which it is mounted. Thus, in the design of this model, two solutions are used at once, designed to minimize external mechanical influences - the high mass of the chassis and its floating suspension.
The Pro-Ject Xtension 10's support disc weighs 5.7 kg, and is made of a special metal alloy that has a number of advantages over a single grade metal. In addition, from the outside, the support disc is damped with the synthetic material Sorbothane. Such a surface literally pastes a vinyl disc to itself, and by its mechanical properties it surpasses any mats for supporting discs. In addition, when made as a whole, this sandwich is perfectly balanced (unlike the discs on which the outer mat is installed), which provides a virtually zero level of beat during rotation. For better fixing of the plate, there is a massive clamp, supplied with the turntable. The support disc is mounted on an inverted ceramic bearing and with a magnetic suspension manufactured with precision precision.
The Pro-Ject Xtension 10 is equipped with a 10cc Evolution tonearm, which is mounted on a solid base, and is further isolated from the chassis using a sorbotane layer. Support for it is an inverted bearing type ABEC 7. On this tonearm you can install any pickups weighing from 4 to 14 grams, and it is completed with four counterweights, also damped with sorbotane.
For protection against dust, the Pro-Ject Xtension 10 is equipped with a transparent acrylic cover, the holders of which are height adjustable. The device comes in three finishes, with a piano lacquer coating.
