Overview and description of the vinyl player Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon

Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon, which replaced the model RPM 5.1, occupies the middle position in the proprietary RPM-line of vinyl turntables. The model borrowed some of the advanced technical solutions from its older brother in the RPM 9 Carbon series, incl. drive concept.
The vibration-resistant and resonant chassis of the turntable includes a new inverted bearing with a stainless steel shaft and a ceramic ball. As a result, the required smoothness of the stroke is ensured and the level of mechanical noise is reduced. The table of the model has a drop-shaped shape and is equipped with three adjustable tapered legs made of aluminum and designed to be decoupled from the supporting surface. A flat mini-stand is installed under each foot. The upper part of the table received a spectacular glossy finish, under which there is a coating of carbon fiber. Acoustically inert 300 mm acrylic reference disc is set in motion by means of a passive worn on the pulley of the synchronous electric motor completely decoupled from the housing. The high-precision motor is smooth and uses an alternator. A separate adapter is used for its power supply. As a result, a more stable disk rotation speed is achieved. Supports speeds of 33.3 and 45 rpm, and switching between them occurs manually by transferring the passive from one pulley to the other.
The player is equipped with a 9-inch tonearm Pro-Ject 9cc Evolution with a conical carbon tube that forms one with the shell and effectively resists resonances. The counterweight has been reliably damped by the use of TPE thermoplastic elastomer. It is possible to adjust the height, as well as adjust the angle of VTA and azimuth (by rotating the tonearm tube, which is fixed by one bolt). Model Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon is completed with MC-cartridge Ortofon Quintet Red. Delivery without cartridge is possible.
As an option, a dust cover is provided for the Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon. In the back of the player there are two output gold-plated RCA connectors for connection to a step-up transformer or phono stage. The sound of the Pro-Ject RPM 5 Carbon features an open, clean and musical pitch, attention to detail, a well-designed bass and a wide scene. The model is available in three colors - red, black and white.
