Review and description of the turntable Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit

The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit turntable is a further development of the famous Debut model, which at one time became a symbol of the return of this class of equipment to the mass market. The new turntable is also offered at a very affordable price, but significant changes have been made to its design to improve the sound quality. The turntable's chassis, made from MDF, is available in black, red or white lacquer finishes.

First of all, in the new model, it is worth noting the tonearm made of carbon fiber impregnated with a special resin - the use of such high-quality devices on turntables in the entry-level price category is a rarity. In addition, the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit uses a larger platter diameter and weight, resulting in smoother platter rotation and reduced overall vibration. The base disk is made of acrylic and is mounted on a sub disk, which is connected by means of an elastic belt to an AC motor, mechanically decoupled from the chassis using sorbotane spacers. The engine is connected to a generator, which in turn is powered by a constant voltage source - a similar solution made it possible to make the rotation speed more stable.

The tonearm and Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit are equipped with a damped micro-lift and weight anti-skating. The player provides three disc speeds, while switching between 33 and 45 revolutions per minute is electronic, and to go to 78 revolutions, you need to manually transfer the drive belt to another roller on the motor pulley. In addition, in this case, it will be necessary to install a special head 2M78 on the tonearm, designed to work with such records.

The device is equipped with a high-quality Ortofon 2M Red MM cartridge, a dust cover and a central adapter for 45 rpm records. The Pro-Ject Debut Carbon SB DC Esprit's output is a pair of RCA connectors, so any cable of the user's choice can be used to connect the turntable to the phono stage.
