Speaker pair Meridian DSP3100

Meridian range of products is very wide. It is not only the speakers, but also electronics. All equipment is aimed at home theater market, and most models can be safely attributed to a very high class. At Meridian digital speakers - speakers with digital input and digital sound processing. The model considered DSP3100 - one of the youngest models in this series. This bookshelf speakers from MDF with a rich lacquer finish. Under strict protective mesh is 25 mm tweeter and proprietary 120mm midrange/woofer with diffuser made of carbon fiber. On each strip is given one DAC (bita/192 24 kHz) and an amplifier output of 75 watts. Digital crossover frequency is set to 2.3 kHz. Speakers will need to configure IR remote control, sold separately. The information is displayed on the front panel speakers with 4 LEDs and an 8-character LED hidden behind tinted plastic.

Sound speakers made us a very favorable impression. It felt class celebrated British brand. On the one hand, speakers play pretty balanced, rigorously demonstrate a good balance of all aspects of sound: tonal, dynamic, spatial. On the other hand, a pair of Meridian plays music in a pleasant, open emotional manner, at home "heat", the studio without dryness. It should be noted very good dynamic resource throughout the frequency range: Meridian couple light illuminates the subtleties of phonograms, keeps excellent vysokoamlitudny "strike". Details musical panoramas are invariably in the systems, "in focus", as in the frontal plane, and in the back of the stage. Our summary: perfectly balanced sound and constructively on a thorough high-end product.

At medium and low frequency of these "digital" speakers are 120-mm speaker with a diffuser made of carbon fiber.

To create a stereo system (or systems DC)-based Meridian DSP3100 each column must specify the proper role. Using the remote control via the menu you need to specify a particular speaker will it left or right. You also need to ask each speaker mode - «Master» or «Slave», which determines whether it receives the signal from the source or the other speakers master.

In English speaker manufacturer AFC is not as beautiful as the other active speaker test. For example, a low-frequency "slope" is not so cool and smooth, as desired. From 100 to 400 Hz with an amplitude of fluctuation noticeable in 4 dB. Next schedule is very hollow and starts smoothly "overwhelm" in the region of 1.5 kHz. From this mark until the end of the measuring range (20 kHz) frequency response curve is more like a "small ripples" on the water, which, though noticeable, but not critical to the ear. Because of the small amplitude columns managed to achieve a better indicator of uneven mainly frequency range (100 Hz to 20 kHz), which amounted to only 0.81 dB. Due to flatter frequency response pattern in the range 1,3-20 kHz unevenness index fell another 0.02 dB, which is also the best test result. But measurements taken at angles to the axis listening fixed sufficiently serious decline in RF field, ranging from about 13 kHz. At an angle of 30 degrees drop characteristics at 20 kHz is more than 25 dB. Thus, it is recommended to send data column strictly on the listener. The rest of the frequency range of the listening angle has almost no effect. THD measurements have demonstrated a commitment to the AC signal low volume. In the range between 100 Hz and 3 above have serious enough peak, the latter being in the region of 6 kHz up to about 2%. Ironically, on the sound was not affected.
