Overview and description of the Marantz SR8012 AV-receiver

The new 11.2-channel flagship Marantz SR8012 can decode any modern AV-format, has impressive functionality and offers high-quality sound. The model is based on the technical solutions used in reference two-channel amplifiers. The central part of the copper-plated chassis is occupied by a massive shielded toroidal transformer. To maintain the quality of the sound at the proper level also help select high-end components. In each channel a discrete amplifying module HDAM with current feedback is installed, and high-capacitive capacitors are used in the PSU. As a result, the receiver outputs 205 watts per channel at 6 ohms.
The flagship can decode the main formats of object-oriented 3D sound: Dolby Atmos (in 7.1.4-channel version without an additional amplifier), DTS: X and Auro-3D. With the release of the new firmware, DTS Virtual: X, which can create 3D sound even in a 2-channel configuration, is claimed. The receiver uses four DSP SHARCs and can scale any video up to 4K resolution. The Audyssey MultEQ XT32 system is used to auto-calibrate the speakers, which is supplemented by a whole package of Audyssey technologies: Dynamic Volume, Dynamic EQ, LFC (prevents the penetration of low frequencies into adjacent rooms) and Sub EQ HT (corrects the work of two subwoofers).
Each channel of the Marantz SR8012 has one 32-bit AKM DAC. There is Wi-Fi (two bands), Bluetooth and AirPlay. On the local network and on the USB port located on the facade, playback of Hi-Res formats is available, incl. DSD (2.8/5.6 MHz). The flagship can be integrated into a flexible multi-room HEOS system, which opens up great possibilities in terms of wireless data transmission. A special HEOS-application can control the receiver and transmit audio content of the local network and other sources to components capable of working with this technology, as well as run such services as TuneIn, Spotify Connect, Tidal, Deezer, etc. A voice assistant Alexa is available, which is very convenient at management.
The Marantz SR8012 model has eight HDMI inputs (one on the facade) that support 4K/60Hz resolution, HDCP 2.2, BT.2020 protocol, HDR video, HLG (HDR version for broadcasts) and Dolby Vision. There are three HDMI outputs, one of which works with eARC (extended return channel), which allows you to broadcast Dolby Atmos, DTS: X and other 3D audio formats. You can also select a group of digital inputs, the input of the MM phono stage, 7.1-channel input and 11.2-channel Pre Out. To connect the speakers there are twelve pairs of screw terminals.
